LS 18 Pre-Hearing Statement
The LS 18 form is completed after an informal conference takes place but before the claim is referred to the Administrative Law Judge for a formal hearing. The LS 18 is usually completed by an attorney if the LHWCA worker is represented at that time. In some ways the LS 18 is considered a pre-hearing outline which specifically states the witnesses that will be called as well as the documents and evidence which will be presented at the Formal Hearing. It is very important to raise all possible issues which may be presented to the ALJ at the formal hearing. Generally it is best to seek legal advice and representation if you are attempting to complete an LS 18. The LS 18 is generally required before your claim will be referred to the ALJ for a Formal Hearing.
